METEOROLOGIST JEFF HABY
Acid precipitation is precipitation with an acidic pH that is much below normal. Air pollution merges with
precipitation. Although this helps clear pollution from the air, it brings the harmful results of
pollution to the earth's surface. The harmful results of acid precipitation include fish kills, vegetation kills,
more rapid erosion of stone statues, and health problems. To reduce acid precipitation, continued attempts at
reducing air pollution must occur. Areas with the greatest acid precipitation problems include highly
industrialized areas and areas downstream from these air pollution centers.
